Verifying a sending domain — Postovio Help

Transactional email will not send from an unverified domain. This is a hard block, not a warning — unverified sending is how domains get blacklisted.

Use a subdomain

Add notify.yourcompany.com rather than yourcompany.com.

Reputation is tracked per subdomain. Keeping transactional mail on its own subdomain means a bad month on your marketing sends cannot affect whether password resets arrive. It also means your primary domain’s existing email setup is untouched.

The records

Adding a domain gives you three records to publish:

  1. A TXT record at the domain root, proving you control it.
  2. A CNAME for DKIM, pointing at a key Postovio hosts and rotates for you.
  3. A suggested SPF entry. If you already have an SPF record, add our include: to it — do not publish a second SPF record. Two SPF records is a permanent error, and it is the single most common mistake on this page.

Reading a failed verification

“TXT record not found” — almost always propagation. Wait, then retry. Some registrars take hours.

“Multiple SPF records found” — you have two v=spf1 TXT records. Merge them into one.

“SPF lookup limit exceeded” — your record needs more than ten DNS lookups to evaluate, so it fails for every sender. Audit the include: entries and remove services you no longer use.

“DKIM key mismatch” — the CNAME is pointing somewhere else, often because the registrar appended your domain to an already-complete target. Check for postovio.com.yourcompany.com in the resolved value.

After verification

Start slowly. A brand-new sending domain with no history that suddenly emits fifty thousand messages looks exactly like a compromised account. Postovio ramps new domains automatically over the first two weeks; you do not need to do anything, but you should not expect full volume on day one.
